ODS Utility

The UI design of the Operational Data Store (ODS) Utility conforms to the OIPA JET standards for uniformity. The ODS application is used to produce the DDLs of OIPA schema to target schema in a flat structure. Once the Schema is created, data is moved from OIPA to Target via Oracle Golden Gate and DBMS Jobs.

An overview of the ODS tasks are explained below in the order in which they should be executed. The links will take the user to more detailed explanations of the functionality.

  1. Setup Aggregation Level.
  2. Add a Run.
  3. Execute Install Run.
  4. Execute Initial Run.
  5. Execute Subsequent Run when there are changes in the Source DB (OIPA).
  6. Execute Rollback Run when execution of Target DDLs is applied partially.
  7. Execute Alias Run when the generated table name of ODS is changed to the user defined name (Alias name) using Alias Mapping screen.
  8. Add Job Schedule.

Generating and Applying DDL Scripts to the Reporting Schema

The user can use ODS utility to generate the ODS data model using the below options:

Option A: Download the DDL Scripts zip folder ( .SQL files) and execute and apply the DDL scripts manually to the ODS Target Schema.

Option B:Execute and apply the DDL Scripts directly (from ODS UI) to the ODS Staging and ODS Target Schema.

If this option is selected, the DBA should provide CREATE TABLE, CREATE VIEW, ALTER TABLE, ALTER VIEW, DROP TABLE, DROP VIEW, EXECUTE privileges to the ODS database user. The same database user/password should be used to create the datasource. ODS will use this datasource to execute the DDL scripts to the ODS Staging and Target schema.
